Shell Asia was an exciting and rapidly growing collection of markets for Shell. However, with Royal Dutch Shell headquartered in the Netherlands and incorporated in the UK, Shell APAC was keen on putting themselves on the radar by showcasing Asia’s talent.
Shell is very big on diversity and inclusion (D&I) and has a 50:50 male to female ratio for new employees. Every year’s intake has to build the funnel towards gender diversity.
In 2019, Shell Asia partnered with Corporate DNA to curate a high intensity program called Talent Acceleration Program for Asia (TAPA), which was created with the strategic intent of bringing more Asian Talent to the forefront. In a very human centred way, we started with the leadership narrative of the chosen Asian delegates across 16 nationalities and these were filmed to help them find their authentic leadership identity.
Interestingly, one cohort received the program as an in room experience pre-COVID19 and the other received it as fully virtual post-COVID19. The impact was seamlessly consistent across both formats and generated remarkable results.
With an 88% Net Promoter Score at the end of the TAPA program, all participating leaders were able to identify and transform their limiting beliefs, fears and insecurities into purpose. By leading from a place of purpose and value, they have seen growth, grounded leadership and productivity that’s higher than ever before.
